2017/2018 Jazz Academy Orchestra (JAO) Audition Application Form

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 and Saturday, September 16, 2017 @ Sligo Middle School, 1401 Dennis Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902.

Proceed to the band room toward the back of the school near the park. Audition should take between 15 – 20 minutes.

NOTE: Parents of students entering the 5th through 8th grade this Fall should call the office at 301-871-8418 before registering for an audition.

Steps After Audition
  1. Someone will contact you with availability based on your choices. You will be notified of the outcome of the audition by the following Monday.
    After hearing results --
    proceed by making your tuition payment. The preferred payment method is online via our secure website.
    Click the orange "Tuition" button at the bottom of the left column to pay by Visa or MasterCard via this website. ($265.00; the 2nd auto payment of $265 will be drawn on January 15).
    The JAO is a full year commitment.
    Refer to the Orchestra page for additional information.
    To pay by check the first installment payment amount is due by the first rehearsal. Checks should be made payable to: "Jazz Academy of Music" ($353.00; and a $177 check is due by Jan 15) You may bring the check to the rehearsal or mail to:
    PO Box 6744, Silver Spring, MD 20916-6744.

the Ensemble?

The Jazz Academy Ensemble (JAE) is for young instrumental musicians that are interested in playing and performing Jazz music in a group setting. JAE is an excellent opportunity for young musicians who have never improvised or created a solo or those who are in the formative stages of developing their improvisational skills.
No Audition Required!
Rehearsal begins 9/19/17 at 5:45pm (bi-weekly) $275 per semester.
